Welcome back everyone! I cannot believe it’s fall already! Time is flying by. To say goodbye to the season we wanted to bring you one of our summer weddings that I am totally obsessed with. As you know, I love the southern life and I especially love everything Old Florida. On top of that, Megan and Matthew love America so that just checked off another reason why we love these guys so much! This Citrus Inspired Florida Wedding celebrated one of the sweetest couples I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.
If theses two sound familiar than you would be correct. You met Megan and Matthew in our last blog post, Sunny Woods Engagement Session. They have a beautiful love story so if you have not had the chance to read it head over and check it out.
Old Florida Citrus Wedding
We love their wedding theme! The Old Florida Citrus theme was actually the same one Matthew’s great grandparents had for their wedding. Just knowing this about them almost brought on the waterworks. When we found out their theme we were equally excited to hear they picked Cypress Grove Estate House for their venue. The southern architect and beautiful grounds encompass a lot of that Florida style everyone loves.
A love grown in faith
Probably the biggest foundation in Megan and Matthew’s love for one another is their mutual love of God. One of our favorite moments of the day was when Megan and Matthew prayed with their bridesmaids and groomsmen before heading out to their ceremony. As you read more, a lot of the details we cover will be mostly related to their passionate love of their faith. You will see in their photos, this part of them was shown in everything about their wedding.
First look, first touch- all the above
We began the day with Megan and her bridesmaids. We love their beautiful matching robes! Megan wore a stunning wedding dress which had custom alterations added on by her matron of honor, including all of the beautiful lace. You guys know I’m a lover of heirloom pieces so I was super thrilled to see that Megan wore her grandmother’s wedding band. Keeping with her love of faith, Megan’s dress had the Song of Solomon sewn into her dress for her something blue.
We also had a blast spending time with Matthew and his groomsmen before the wedding. We love how Matthew wore his cowboy boots along with the rest of his groomsmen. When it was time to head out, Matthew was looking handsome in his black tux complete with a black bowtie and cowboy boots.
Before we get to the ceremony we always have to mention those amazing “first” moments. To begin, Megan did a first look with her bridesmaids and her father. All of us were blown away by how stunning she looked. She was radiating happiness and her joy was contagious because everyone was all smiles and happy tears.
Megan and Matthew did a first touch at the lovely green door at the front of the house. You could tell they were trying so hard not to sneak a peek at one another, but they knew it would only be a few moments until they would see each other at the altar.
A beautiful day by the lake for a wedding
Megan and Matthew’s wedding was a perfect Florida day. Although the sun was bright, it was dim in comparison to the smile on Matthew’s face when he saw Megan walking down the aisle. He was overcome by happy tears as she walked towards him. With the beautiful lake behind them, they stood together in front of a custom built cross handmade by their friend Mark. To be joined together forever in front of such a beautiful display of faith was perfect for them.
During their ceremony they took communion with their parents, while their close friends gifted everyone with beautiful singing. It was like everyone there was one big family. It is not often that you will find us tearing up, but Megan and Matthew’s wedding was definitely one where we had to hold it back.
A celebration for everyone
After their ceremony we took a bunch of portraits and every photo was just as stunning as the next. During that time guests enjoyed some time to mingle and sign the guestbook. It was a Bible and guests were asked to highlight their favorite verse and leave a note for them to read together. In keeping with their Old Florida and citrus theme, guests received a gift of orange marmalade to take home with them.
Megan and Matthew’s wedding is one we will not forget for a long time. Every time we come across their photos we have have to smile. We hope you guys enjoy their citrus inspired Florida wedding photos as much as we did when taking them.
